U.S. Congressman Dan Boren has been honored with the Oklahoma Veterans Council Special Award for his support of veterans, and his work on behalf of Oklahoma's veterans, their families, and active duty military personnel both in Congress and within the Second Congressional District.

"I am truly thrilled to receive this exceptional award. It has been an honor to work closely with the entire veterans' community for the past several years. My staff and I work very hard in Oklahoma on veterans outreach and casework. I also take great pride in representing the wishes, needs, and interests of Oklahoma's true heroes while working on veterans legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives," Boren said.

"We appreciate the Congressman's efforts and all he does for veterans in the state of Oklahoma. We appreciate the time he spends with veterans both in the district and while in Washington D.C. His efforts speak volumes of his genuine care of Oklahoma Veterans," said Felix "Pete" Peterson, Chairman of the Oklahoma Veterans Council.

The Oklahoma Veterans Council Special Award has only been presented five times by the state's Oklahoma Veterans Council, and this is the first time it has been awarded to a Congressional recipient. Following this announcement, Boren will be presented with the award at a ceremony in September.
